In memoriam Doctor Claudine Portmann

Authors : Delaroche M, Négrevergne M. (Bordeaux)

Ref. : Rev Laryngol Otol Rhinol. 2007;128,5:331-332.

Article published in french

Summary : Claudine BARRAU was born September 24, 1923, on the banks of the bay of Arcachon in Arès and passed away there January 21, 2008.
...
Thus a great figure of International Audiology disappears today, particularly endearing by her
great human qualities. The deaf children who now have become adults remember with emotion what she has
done to help them progress and help their often disorientated parents.
Claudine Portmann has been able to carry out a high level professional career and a rich family life. She was an attentioned wife, a very attentive mother concerned by the education of her three children (Annie, Audiologist, Nathalie, Architect, Didier, Otolaryngologist), a grandmother very present for her eight grand-daughters.
Her distinction, her natural modesty, her constant concern for the others will remain engraved forever in the heart of all those who have approached her.
